U11 House League (2013-2014)

U11 HOUSE LEAGUE RULES

All games are played under FIBA rules, with modifications below:

  • Each team must supply a minor official for each game to work as the table crew. Minor official should be an adult if possible.
  • Teams must have 5 players to start the game, if they do not, a forfeit is declared after 5 minutes and teams will combine to ensure both have enough to play OR transition into some 3X3 half court games.
  • Games are all run time with the clock stopping for time outs, substitutions, foul shots, & injuries. If a game will exceed the allotted time - the referee will cut a segment or shorten the final quarter after notifying coaches and the table crew.

TEAM PLAY

All games are 4-on-4, with full line substitutions when possible.

KEY VIOLATIONS

For any 3 second violations, give warning to the athletes first and then call the violation.

FOUL LINE

*NEW FOR 2023/2024* Teams that are fouled on a shooting foul will shoot 1 foul shot worth 2pts. If the player is fouled in the act of shooting and makes the basket, it counts as usual (2pts) and their foul shot will only count for 1pt.

After the 5th team foul in a half, there will be a bonus shots on any non-shooting foul. No shots are taken on a non-shooting foul unless the team is in bonus.

BASKETBALL

Size 5 (27.5)

DEFENSE

No full court pressure is permitted. Intentional double team is also not permitted. Man-to-man defense only.

PLAYING TIME

Clock stops for injuries, timeouts or substitutions only.

4 x 9 minute run-time quarters with 5 minute half time and 1 minute between quarters. Warm up will be 5 minutes.

6:00pm games must start by 6:10pm and be completed by 7:20pm.

7:30pm games must start by 7:40pm and be completed by 8:50pm.

OVERTIME

There is no overtime during regular season play.

For playoffs, overtime will result in 6 min of game time with subs every 2 minutes. If the game is still tied at the end of 6min, a double overtime will be played, first to 4pts

SUBSTITUTIONS

Full line substitutions when possible - a team with less than 4 available subs will require a player to have a double shift. Athletes are not permitted to have more than 2 shifts in a row. This is a fair play program and athletes must be given the opportunity to equally play and participate.

Coaches can agree to have the horn go every 3 minutes for subbing and should run a fair play system.

REFEREES TO WARN PLAYERS WHENEVER POSSIBLE BEFORE CALLING INFRACTIONS/FOULS.
