Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I register for the season?

Registration is done online through RAMP: http://morinvillebasketball.rampregistrations.com/

Can out-of-zone players register with Morinville?

For any EYBA basketball league programming, we have to follow their rules. They have informed us that players cannot play for a zone outside that in which they live unless:
- The athlete attends school in the zone in question
- There is no basketball programming available in your area
- An Out-of-zone transfer has been applied for and both sending and receiving zones accept the change

Our zone is one that includes Parkland County, St. Albert, and Morinville. There are 3 associations that participate in the EYBA within our set zone.

For any programming that is NOT EYBA related, we welcome any and all athletes and have had players join us from all over!

How do I get become a coach?

Please use the coaching section of your child’s registration to indicate that you would like to volunteer for coaching.
If you do not have a child in the program, or need to contact us regarding coaching, please email morinvilleyouthbasketball@gmail.com

My athlete wants to play up a level. Can my child move up a division?

You are more than welcome to inquire about moving up, but we cannot guarantee a spot. Our association gives priority to athletes that fall in the official age range.

How long is the season?

Our Fall/Winter seasons run from mid-September to mid-March and we always try to run spring/summer seasons which run from late-March to May/June.

My daughter (14 yrs) has never played basketball before. Would this be an option for her or in your opinion, would she be too far behind the other players?

We are a community-based program and we do everything possible to offer a place for every single player, regardless of experience and regardless of skill. Our coaches are prepared to coach any athlete from the most experienced to a brand-new basketball player. As long as they come with the willingness to learn, then we are good!

Our daughter is 7 yrs old and we are looking to get her into spring basketball. We live in st albert but cant find any programs here for her. Would she be eligible to register in MYBA? thank you

Yes, you're welcome to join MYBA! We do our best to run programming year round.

What happens if no one volunteers to coach a team?

Morinville Youth Basketball will work hard to find coaches for all of our teams. However, if no parent volunteers and an alternate coach cannot be found, the team will be disbanded. If this happened, players may be transferred to other teams (sometimes in higher age groups) or fees will be refunded. We hope that this never happens, and encourage anyone interested in coaching to put their name forward.
