Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I register for the season?

Registration is done online at

Will there still be programming with COVID-19?

Yes. We plan to run programs within Morinville for U7-U18. This will look very different from previous years and numbers will be capped to ensure we comply with AHS and Alberta Basketball guidelines.

Can out-of-zone players register with Morinville?

If you are an out-of-zone player, meaning you reside in an area that Morinville does not cover for EYBA (Outside of Sturgeon County), you MIGHT be able to play in Morinville.

Since we participate in the EYBA basketball league, we have to follow their rules. They have informed us that players cannot play for a zone outside that in which they live unless:
- The athlete attends school in the zone in question
- There is no basketball programming available in your area
- An Out-of-zone transfer has been applied for and both sending and receiving zones accept the change

How do I get become a coach?

Please use the coaching section of your child’s registration to indicate that you would like to volunteer for coaching.
If you do not have a child in the program, or need to contact us regarding coaching, please email

My athlete wants to play up a level. Can my child move up a division?

You are more than welcome to inquire about moving up, but we cannot guarantee a spot. Our association gives priority to athletes that fall in the official age range.

How long is the season?

Our seasons run from mid-September to mid-March.

My daughter (14 yrs) has never played basketball before. Would this be an option for her or in your opinion, would she be too far behind the other players?

We are a community-based program and we do everything possible to offer a place for every single player, regardless of experience and regardless of skill. Our coaches are prepared to coach any athlete from the most experienced to a brand-new basketball player. As long as they come with the willingness to learn, then we are good!

Why do I have a 17$ fee to pay?

This year ABA & RAMP changed how we did insurance and added a $17 ABA Membership fee (paid directly to ABA as a membership dues which covers athlete insurance). RAMP’s system incorrectly assumes this fee should be deducted from our fees so it shows the $17 as applied against the total registration fees. For this reason, if you have paid in full it will incorrectly show a $17 credit. This payment is only available by credit card and is processed by ABA. The amount you will owe may be incorrect on your RAMP page, so if you are confused or would like clarification, please email us and we can confirm the proper cost.
